Abstract: The Center for Neurotechnology integrates multidisciplinary expertise in basic, translational, and clinical neurosciences and engineering. The increasing burden of neurologic and psychiatric disease is significant; it is anticipated that neurotechnologies such as prosthetics, imaging, and other devices, will be integral to meeting this unmet burden. An important goal of CENT is to train a new generation of neuroscientists and engineers who will be leaders in the field of translational neurotechnology and who have expertise in the longitudinal process of translating technology from bench-to-bedside in clinical neurosciences. Co-directors, Nader Pouratian (Clinical Trials and Programs), Dejan Markovic (Engineering and Technology), and Nanthia Suthana (Neuroscience and Basic Research) will discuss the center’s mission and upcoming activities including the new NIH funded T32 Training in Neurotechnology Translation (TNT) program that provides 2 year fellowships for pre- and post-doctoral trainees at UCLA.
