re: Martinotti and Baillarger

Message forwarded to HISTNEUR-L for John Gach in response to Wallace
Tomlinson's query. Apologies for the delay as it bounced around in
listserv error-land a couple of times.

In addition to the sources Russell Johnson listed, you might try the
following:

The brief entry in J. Pagel's _Biographisches Lexikon_ (Berlin/Wien: Urban &
Schwarzenberg, 1901), useful for his publiations.

The entry in pages 5-8 of the 2nd edition of Haymaker & Schiller's _Founders
of Neurology (Thoms, 1970).

The discussion of Baillarger on pages 262-63 of Jan Goldstein's _Console and
Classify: The French Psychiatric Profession in the Nineteenth Century_
(Cambridge University Press, 1987).

All three point to other reference sources as well.
