I am currently trying to get all possible information on a papier-mache
replica of the elephant brain. The model is life-sized, hand-painted and
composed by several parts assembled together. It can be opened to reveal
the thalamus, the ventricular system, the lamina quadrigemina, etc. It has
obviously been made from a cast or by direct comparison with an original. I
know the replica has been made in France (Paris?) during the XIX century.
For similar researches I found in the past that Italian manufacturers of
anatomical papier mache replicas were in Bologna and in Puglia. But I am
completely blind for French preparations. Any hints would be welcome.
