	In spite of Claude Bernard's fame in his lifetime, his ideas on
the necessity of a constant intrnal enviroment for the development of a
complex nervous system had little impact until after the turn of the
century...who has discussed the reasons for this delay...I know several
have, but I have lost track of whom.
