The field is open, but scholars of biotechnology, genetics, molecular biology and evolutionary theory are of particular interest, as are scholars whose historical work draws on methodologies from fields such as anthropology, sociology, science studies, philosophy, and public policy. This appointment will play a crucial role in our department's work in the biological sciences--and must be someone whose research and teaching speak compellingly to both graduate students and undergraduate students, while linking productively to related work in the department and across the university. While the focus of the search is on identifying a candidate at the senior (full professorial) level, the appointment could be made at the advanced associate professorial level (untenured).
