Temporary Closure: McGill University Rare Books and Special Collections Division (1 May - 1 October 2004)
Forwarded to HISTNEUR-L from EXLIBRIS. Note that this announcement is about McGill's Rare Books and Special Collections Division in the McLennan Library Building (on McTavish Street), not the Osler History of Medicine Library (on Promenade Sir-William-Osler). Still, researchers attending the ISHN-TENNET meeting in June may be affected. More than the usual number of libraries, archives, and museums apparently are undergoing rennovations or moves this summer. Be sure to email or phone before arranging to visit any repository to do research or to pop in during a working vacation, so you will not be disappointed. --RJ ----- Original Message ----- From: Ann Marie Holland [ann.marie.holland@mcgill.ca] Date: Tuesday, March 23, 2004 3:17 pm Subject: Reading Room Closed for Renovations Dear Colleagues, Please be advised that the Rare Books and Special Collections Division of the McGill University Libraries will be closed due to renovations starting May 1st, 2004 through to October 1st, 2004. Thanks to a very generous donation from Dr. Richard Tomlinson, the Rare Books Division in the McLennan Library Building will finally be housed in stable environmental conditions, including better controls for temperature, humidity, air filtration and lighting. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Please contact the Division by April 30th, 2004 in order to make special arrangements for material that you are sure to need during this period.
