Subject: NEH Fellowships, deadline for proposals May1, 2004

Colleagues:

Research Fellowships are available from the National Endowment for the
Humanities. Guidelines for the 2005-2006 NEH Fellowships are now
available on the NEH Web site
http://www.neh.gov .
The submission deadline is May 1, 2004.

NEW THIS YEAR: NEH Fellowship applications will be made online. NEH
strongly encourages all applicants to apply using the new web-based
application form. This user-friendly form permits applicants to
prepare, save, edit, and submit their proposals as well as check on the
status of their letters of reference. The application site will be
available on March 1, 2004 through May 1, 2004.

Fellowships are awarded for projects in all areas of the humanities,
including the history of science, history of medicine, and history of
technology. Applicants may be faculty or staff members of colleges or
universities or independent scholars. Those enrolled in degree programs
as of May 1, 2004 are not eligible to apply. U.S. citizens are
eligible, as are foreign nationals who, as of May 1, 2004, have been
residents of the U.S. for the three years immediately prior to that
deadline. Recipients usually produce scholarly articles, books, or
translations, editions, or other scholarly tools. Lists of recent
Fellowship winners are available at
http://www.neh.gov/news/recentawards.html

For more information, contact NEH Fellowships by telephone at
