Re: Black bile

Dear Colleague,

It is far from certain that the source which I just found thanks to GOOGLE
is the best one, but it is by a Spanish scholar, Isidore of Sevilla, author
of an early etymological dictionary (cf. attachment).
The latin text looked so inviting that I could not help but had to translate
it immediately despite the fact that neither my Latin nor my English are
perfect. It gave me the pleasure to start the New Year with something
meaningful.
I could not find a definition of melancholy in Theodor Beck's bilingual
edition of Hippocrates texts (Jena, Eugen Diederichs, 1907). So I should
appreciate to get some input from colleagues with a more solid background.
