Possible new JHN columns
The editors of the Journal of the History of the Neurosciences would like to consider adding 2 new regular columns to each issue. One would deal with stamps and coins depicting things of interest to neuroscientists, such as Nobel Prize winners, famous figures from the more distant past, images of the brain, and the effects of brain diseases and damage. The other column would deal with neuroscience (again, broadly defined) in art and with regard to artists. Here there could be images of operations, famous portraits, discussions about who might have been the artist behind some image in Vesalius or Descartes, artists who contributed to neuroscience or suffered brain injuries, etc. We do not expect full-length papers for either column, not do the columns have to present original thoughts and new ideas. What we are looking for is only a a page or two of text and a photo that would have broad appeal to our readers. We will consider pairs of people or small teams to work on these columns, such as we do right now with our Neurowords column (Haines and Olry do this together), if the volunteers would prefer such an arrangement. So are there any volunteers? If so, please contact me or Peter Koehler.
