folks:

I was browsing the PBS "Secret Life of the Brain",
(http://www.pbs.org/wnet/brain/), looking for pictures of brain-scanning
machines; while there I did a quick trip through their "history of the
brain". Screen 2 labeled 2500 B.C. told me:

"... an ancient Egyptian record known as the Edwin Smith Surgical
Papyrus contains the first written account of the anatomy of the brain.
Written by an unknown physician, the papyrus documents twenty-six cases
of brain injury along with various treatment recommendations."

It's been a while since I looked at the Edwin Smith text but I do not
remember any anatomical discussions of the brain at all; what I
remember is reference to exterior anatomical locations, e.g. the
temporal bone, and the clinical material, of course. Does anyone
 recollect anything different?

 Whit
