Frank, Jr. "Medicine is based on facts and theories, but is ultimately justified in application to heal the patient and to prevent disease-practice. Frank will explore how Western medicine has attempted over its formative centuries to communicate and preserve these personal and dynamic skills through the objectified and static embodiments of text and image. Robert Frank, Jr. is professor of Medical History and History at UCLA. His research interests focus on the development of the laboratory medical sciences and on historical concepts and effects of disease."
