Dingle Prize

The British Society for the History of Science invites nominations 
for the 2001 Dingle Prize.  £300 will be awarded to the best book in 
the history of science (broadly construed) published in English between 
January 1998 and December 2000, which is accessible to a wide audience 
of non-specialists.

Nominations should be sent to the secretary, Dr Sally Horrocks, 
Department of Economic and Social History, University of Leicester, 
Leicester, LE1 7RH, UK or email smh4@le.ac.uk  by 1 April 2001.

Previous winners of the Dingle Prize:
1997   Adrian Desmond and James Moore for Darwin, London: Penguin, 1992
1999   Steven Shapin for The Scientific Revolution, Chicago and 
London: University of Chicago Press, 1996


Judges for 2001 Dingle Prize will be:

Dr Janet Browne: Former editor of BJHS and author of a biography of 
Charles Darwin

Ms Georgina Ferry: science journalist and biographer of Dorothy Hodgkin

Dr Paula Gould:  BSHS media officer
