[Re: Marie de Manaceine]

Dear Stan (and anyone else who's interested),

De Manaceine's ideas as expounded in her book Sleep: Its Physiology,
Hygience, and Psychology (London: Scott, 1997) are described in some detail
in the following:

Mavromatis, A. (1987). Hypnagogia: The Unique State of Consciousness
Between Wakefulness and Sleep. London: Routledge & Kegan Paul.

Andreas Mavromatis was the first research student that I supervised. His
book is based on his dissertation and is now widely recognized as the most
authoritative account of the nature and function of hypnagogic experiences.
He accumulated material in many languages and from many countries, but I
suspect that he got hold of De Manaceine's book through the British
Library. You should be able to get hold of his own book much more easily,
but let me know if you have any problems.

Best wishes,

John Richardson
