ISHN 2001 update
I learned from ISHN/2001 co-organizers Axel Karenberg and Paul Eling
that they and the Program Committee are putting the finishing touches
on the conference program and soon will be mailing it to ISHN and ECHN
members and interested colleagues. The program will also be available
online, linked from the ISHN homepage: http://www.ishn.org
In the meantime, please keep in mind the conference dates (13-16 June)
and hotel information, as posted in the Announcement and Call for
Papers: http://www.ishn.org/call2001.htm . The former link to the
hotel's website failed, so I replaced it with the best new one I could
find. As you will be reminded when you receive the Program and
registration information, "Please make your reservations directly with
the Reservations Office at the Queens Hotel and ask for the group rate
for the ISHN/ECHN".
I am posting this update because several people have already made
inquiries about the starting and adjourning times for the meeting.
Based on the preliminary program, I can report:
(1) The conference begins with an Opening Reception on Wednesday
evening, June 13. Paper sessions begin the following morning, June 14.
(2) The conference concludes ca. 17.00 or 18.00 (5:00 or 6:00pm) on
Saturday, June 16. Note that previous annual meetings have adjourned
ca. 13.00 (1:00pm) on the final day. The additional afternoon is
programmed due to the number of papers scheduled as well as to
accommodate the ISHN annual business meeting, an important symposium
("Teaching the History of the Neurosciences"), and the premiere
presentation of a new video production (Dr. Ynez V. O'Neill's
"Vesalius, Paré and the Death of Henri II"). We encourage all
attendees to remain throughout the entire conference, rather than
fly home on the final afternoon.
Cheers,
Russell Johnson
