Brain Awareness Week (12-18 March 2001)
If you are planning or know of History of Neuroscience activities
planned for this year's Brain Awareness Week (12-18 March 2001), please
post an announcement on HISTNEUR-L (The History of Neuroscience
Internet Forum). Or, ir you prefer, send information to me and I will
gather and herald the news.
For example, the National History Museum of the Polish Academy of
Science in Krakow is hosting an exhibition (Exhibition of the anatomy,
physiology and evolution of the brain; the physiology of a nerve cell
and the pathology of the nervous system) and concurrent competition
("Brain in Art: Art competition for primary and secondary school
children to present images of the brain") (contact: Elzbieta Pyza,
pyza@zuk.iz.uj.edu.pl).
Another example: The Georgian Neuroscience Association will be hosting
several public lectures in Tblisi, at the State University,
Beritashvili Institute of Physiology, Asanti Institute of Psychiatry,
and Centre of Audiology and Hearing Rehabilitation (primary contact:
Merab Tsagareli, gena@ip.osgf.ge). The Georgian Neuroscience
Association's website, http://www.edab.net/ , promises to coordinate
these activities. Some HISTNEUR-L readers and members of the
International Society for the History of the Neurosciences will be
interested in looking at that website because of it's historical
account (with phorographs and bibliography) of Georgian neuroscience.
As Brain Awareness Week draws near, take a look at the websites which
are coordinating its calendars:
