The National Academy Press (NAP), publisher for the National Academy of 
Sciences (U.S.), has mounted HTML and PDF editions of 264 of its 
Biographical Memoirs online at:

I don't know if access to these requires licensing/subscription by your 
institution (i.e., your domain name--such as "ucla.edu"--would be 
automatically read and checked against the NAP permissions database 
before you are allowed access), but you might want to check out this
