ISHN website problem fixed

If you tried to access the ISHN (International Society for the
History of the Neurosciences) website <http://www.ishn.org> recently,
you probably failed and encountered the error message:
"There was no response. The server could be down or is not responding.
If you are unable to connect again later, contact the server's
administrator."

We use NameSecure.com to link the easy-to-remember-and-use website
address "www.ishn.org" to the awkward-but-actual address on our web
server, "www.medsch.ucla.edu/som/bri/archives/ishn/". NameSecure
informed me that, "Unfortunately, we had an IP address change over the
weekend and the accounts effected had to go through a propagation
period for 48 hours. If you are still having difficulty reaching your
site, please clear your cache in your machine. We were able to reach
your site by typing in your domain name both with and without the www.
Your forwarding is functioning properly from here."

Huh? Don't worry. Bottom line: the problem is resolved, and you can
successfully visit the ISHN website again at .
Please do, too--you will find ISHN News, links to information about the
society's new awards/prizes, and the Call for Papers (deadline: 15
January 2001) for the ISHN/2001 meeting in Cologne, Germany.

It is Thanksgiving Day here in the U.S., so I'm now heading out to play
football (American rules), eat turkey, and fall asleep with friends in
front of the television set.

Cheers,

Russell Johnson
ISHN Secretary
