Oral History Interview Questions

Dear List,

I am interested in any standard question lists for oral histories which
might be used in interviewing scientists specifically. I was very
interested in the presentation on oral history at the STHC Roundtable (to
which I am a newcomer) at SAA. I am beginning an oral history interview
series with USDA scientists who have participated in a specific US Dept of
Agriculture project, on both the research and application levels. While I
know what questions need to be asked about the specific project, I also want
to make sure that I frame them consistently with the awareness that these
revolve around scientific concerns. Since my own background is in history
and archives, rather than science, I would be very interested in what
"standard" questions are used for these interviews. Most of the interviews
I will conduct at first will probably be "career" interviews and I also
anticipate that at least some will be video tape rather than just audio.

Any assistance on questions lists or other advice would be extremely
welcome. Please reply directly to me.

Many thanks,
Lynn Stewart
