Pending final approval for the funds, UCLA's history of science program has
a one year postdoctoral fellowship to begin September 1, 1999. It would
entail extensive archival research in Britain on the diffusion of mechanical
knowledge in the period from roughly the 1720s to the 1820s. The fellow
would work closely with Prof. Margaret Jacob and prospective candidates
should email her directly, or send a vita and list of referees to her at
UCLA, Department of History, Bunche Hall 6292, Los Angeles, CA 90024;
