Request: new web home for AIDS History Group sought

Forwarded to STHC-L from H-SCI-MED-TECH. I'm forwarding this with the
thought that one of the archivists on this list, whose repository has
AIDS as a collecting focus, might be interested.

The AIDS History Group is described in Franklin Hoke's article,
"History Of Science Societies Sprout Up Nationwide, With More", in _The
Scientist_, v.7 no.22, 15 November 1993

Greetings,

I have recently been appointed coordinator for the AIDS History Group, an
organization composed of doctors and academics interested in the History
of AIDS.

Previously, the organization was run by Dr. Victoria Harden, a researcher
at the NIH. We organized an annual newsletter and generally hosted a
panel at the American Association of the History of Medicine meeting.

We are now interested in creating a WEB site for our organization. The
site will provide lists of researchers, research in progress,
bibliographies, posting of notices and announcements, and so on.

An initial problem: we need access to a WEB server. Since I work for the
federal government, I cannot use mine; nor is NIH willing to host a site.
I was wondering about the options with H-NET. I have received general
information from them regarding application procedures, but I was also
hoping to receive advice from you. I'd appreciate any
information/suggestions that yo0u might be able to provide.

Thanks very much,
Sam Nelson
