A couple of messages have been delivered to STHC-L subscribers
bearing the strange subject line: "Check_Subject". This subject is
assigned by ListProc when incoming/posted messages carry no subject
line (i.e., the subject line is blank). An e-mail message without a
subject line may be one of the warning signs of infection by the
Melissa virus or one of its relatives. Our updated list processing
software (ListProc) scans all posted messages for viruses; if a message
is infected, it is deleted and not circulated to you; if a message is
clean but bears no subject line, ListProc assigns it "Check_Subject".
So, please remember to give your e-mail and listserv messages subject
lines [except when subscribing to or unsubscribing from a listserv,
that is]. Make these subjects pertinent and descriptive; this helps
recipients decide whether to read the message immediately or later...or
not at all!
Cheers,
Russell Johnson
