The Arizona Aerospace Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, has a
position opening for Archivist at the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson,
AZ.  This is a permanent, full-time position.

WORK DESCRIPTION
Perform professional and technical archival work in evaluating,
accessioning, arranging, describing, cataloging, preserving, publishing and
providing reference service related to aerospace records and documents.

Additional duties include: conducting the Aerospace Heritage Program, the
Arizona Aerospace Foundation's ongoing oral/video history project; carrying
out special studies and projects such as preparation of guides, grants and
publications; training staff and volunteers in archival principles and
techniques; and supervising volunteers involved in processing and
cataloging collections.

The ideal candidate will possess: a thorough understanding of the needs,
methods and techniques of sholarly research; considerable knowledge of
archival theory and practice, including the scientific treatment of
archival material for preservation purposes; an understanding of military
organization, lineage and terminology; a familiarity with oral history
techniques and uses; computer expertise; excellent interpersonal skills;
and strong verbal and written communication skills.  Aviation/aerospace
knowledge preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A degree in history or one of the social sciences and three years of
experience in historical research or technical archivist work.  Graduate
studies in a closely related field may substitute for experience on a year
for year basis.
