The home page for the Chicago Metro History Education Center, located
in the Newberry Library, may be found at
<http://www.uic.edu/orgs/cmhec/> . The Chicago fair (final
papers/performances) takes place in April. Projects which are based on
the theme "Science, Technology, Invention in History: Impact,
Influence, Change" may be eligible for competition in National History
Day (June 13-17) <http://www.thehistorynet.com/NationalHistoryDay/>
Are any STHC archives and archivists involved in these National History
Day projects? If so, consider debriefing colleagues via STHC-L (make
sure you don't reveal information about individual patrons or projects
between now and June, however; remember, this is a serious
competition).
Likewise, if you want to offer your services/collections-access to
students, teachers, etc., send an e-mail query to <hstryday@aol.com>
[Public aside to Society of American Archivists' STHC Roundtable
co-chairs: perhaps we can wrangle someone to give a wrap-up report on
National History Day at the roundtable meeting in Pittsburgh in
August?].
