Working with Knowledge is an international archives conference, an
initiative of the International Council on Archives Science Technology
and Medicine Archives Special Interest Group and the Australian Society
of Archivists Inc. Science Technology and Medicine Archives Special
Interest Group.


Major sponsors of the conference are:

	The Australian Research Council Special Research Initiative Program;

	The Australian Academy of  Science; and

	Australian Archives.



CONFERENCE FORMAT


Working with Knowledge has been planned as a practical, working forum. 
Speakers from overseas and around Australia have been invited to address
key themes in short, pithy presentations.  Speakers from conference
co-sponsor, the Australian Science Archives Project, will provide
illustrations from the field to stimulate debate.  Significant time in
each session has been allocated to audience questions and discussion. 
The conference will work towards presentation of a conference statement
in the concluding session, which will look forward to the international
archives profession of the 21st Century.



CONFERENCE CONTENT


The Keynote address will be by Peter Horsman (National Archives of the
Netherlands), principle author of the ICA's Design for the
Archival Description System: Application of ISAD(G), A Study.


Conference Sessions will explore:

	- the capturing of context;

	- making standards work;

	- data visualisation;

	- archival constructs;

	- the archival control of systems; and

	- working with the information held in records.


	PLUS A DEMONSTRATION OF WORLD-LEADING

	VIRUAL REALITY DATA-VISUALISATION -

	NOT TO BE MISSED


Speakers include information professionals and record creators and users
- archivists, scientists and social scientists.

(posted to ASA members next week) or through the conference web site. You
can also reply to this email with your postal details and a request for
registration information if you are not a member of the ASA.
