General Description:
The Electronic Records Archivist is a one year NHPRC-funded 
project position at the Alan Mason Chesney Medical Archives 
(Medical Archives) of the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions 
(JHMI) in Baltimore, MD. The Electronic Records Archivist will 
collaborate with faculty and staff of the Medical Archives and JHMI 
in forming an Electronic Records Consortium for JHMI and ultimately 
a model for Electronic Records Management (ERM) at JHMI. 

The primary duties and responsibilities of the job: 
Survey and assess status of electronic records management at 
JHMI; survey and assess JHMI initiatives for long-term retention 
of data and information in electronic formats; compile a master 
list of JHMI compliance requirements; develop appraisal standards 
and criteria for long-term retention of JHMI's electronic records; 
develop two comparative ERM models for JHMI; project technical 
requirements and cost estimates for a JHMI institutional repository.
 

Qualifications:
Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) with specialization 
in electronic records management, archives, and/or digital 
curation; and/or MA/MS in computer or cognitive sciences required. 
At least one year of work in Electronic Records Management (ERM) 
and/or digital curation required. Experience in work with multidisciplinary 
collaborations required. Training/working knowledge of ERM systems, 
electronic imaging systems, e-mail systems, Web CMS, EPR systems, 
electronic database development and management, and open source 
software including D Space repository software required. Knowledge 
of laws and policies that affect university records; working 
knowledge of legal and ethical issues surrounding electronic record 
keeping systems; superior writing, presentation, and communication 
skills; demonstrated appraisal and analysis skills required.

About the Alan Mason Chesney Medical Archives:
The Alan Mason Chesney Medical Archives is the official archival 
repository of the Johns Hopkins Hospital, the Johns Hopkins 
University School of Medicine, the Johns Hopkins University School 
of Nursing, and the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of 
Public Health. Archival holdings include institutional records, 
personal paper collections of individuals associated with the 
institutions, photographs, fine arts and medical and scientific 
artifacts which date from the late nineteenth century to the present.
