Archivist/Manuscript Curator, Bernard Becker Medical Library, 
Washington University in St. Louis.  The Archives holds historic 
School of Medicine records, faculty papers, pictorial resources, 
oral histories; also manages collections of the American Academy 
of Neurology.  The position reports to Associate Director for Collection 
Management and shares responsibility for technical and public services 
with a Visual Collections Manager, Processing Archivist, and Rare 
Book Librarian.  Principal responsibilities include:  acquires 
materials from administrative offices, faculty, and other sources; 
appraises, arranges and describes archival materials according to 
recognized professional standards; contributes to oral history 
program; responds to information requests from health science faculty, 
students and the general public using the archival collections; 
oversees archives and rare book reading room; contributes to Library 
and School programs and websites; contributes to Library exhibit 
gallery program; works directly with appointed representatives of 
the American Academy of Neurology concerning the AAN archives.  
Qualifications include an ALA-accredited Master’s degree in library 
or information science with training in archival or records management, 
preservation and conservation, or Master’s degree in History with a 
concentration in archival studies, and experience with archival management 
practices and standards such as DACS.  Good communication skills in general 
and an ability to interpret programs and objectives of a large and 
complex academic medical center are advantageous.  Becker Library
