[Previous Posting] [Next Posting] 2007 STHC Roundtable Meeting
Dear Colleagues, For its upcoming Chicago 2007 Annual Meeting, the Society of American Archivists has scheduled all Roundtable meetings on Wednesday August 29, 2007. The STHC session is from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fairmont Chicago Hotel. As you make hotel and travel arrangements, please keep the meeting time and date in mind. We hope that your plans will accommodate the Roundtable meeting. We promise a full and lively session. In addition to the business meeting, sharing new projects and initiatives in STHC collections and institutions, and brainstorming 2008 session proposals, we will hold a panel discussion on working with artifacts in science, technology and health care collections, organized by John Zwicky of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Though this scheduling is not terrific, the STHC meeting will certainly be! Please share this information with new colleagues and other STHC archivists who may not be familiar with the Roundtable’s activities, publications, and the STHC listserve. New attendees are warmly welcome, as always. FYI, below is SAA's explanation of scheduling Roundtables. Sincerely, Janice Goldblum and Paul Theerman, STHC Co-Chairs SCHEDULING OF ROUNDTABLE MEETINGS The good news this year is that we will be able to accommodate 2-hour session slots for all Roundtables. (Many of you have expressed an interest in a two-hour slot, rather than the “traditional” 90-minute slot.) However, due to the size and number of meeting rooms available in the Fairmont Chicago, we have scheduled all Roundtable meetings on the afternoon or evening of Wednesday, August 30. (Our hotel history indicates that 90% of our out-of-town attendees check in on Wednesday, so we believe that this schedule will accommodate the vast majority of individuals.) If you have a COMPELLING reason to change your slot between the two times offered, I will be happy to work with you to try to accommodate your request.
