[Previous Posting] [Next Posting] QUERY: International League Against Epilepsy
Hello, I am a freelance writer and researcher tasked with gathering history for the upcoming centenary of the International League Against Epilepsy. I would be most grateful for leads to archives related to the league's first 60-odd years (1909-1970), or its journal, Epilepsia, and in particular, William G. Lennox, the league's president from 1935 to 1949. Lennox happened also to be president of the American branch of the league (the American League Against Epilepsy, now the American Epilepsy Society) for 1936. I have located some holdings at Harvard University (where Lennox was on the faculty), Johns Hopkins University, and Washington University in St. Louis. But both the league and the journal suffered several major interruptions, not necessarily in tandem, and the story has proved difficult to piece together in detail. The league was founded in Budapest in 1909. The United States had a role from the beginning, and carried the journal through the second world war. I can supply a list of significant players for the period in question, if that would help. My query is not restricted to U.S. archives. As this topic may not be of general interest, feel free to respond to me off-list, at weissg@balcab.ch With many thanks, Giselle Weiss Ochsengasse 14 CH-4123 Allschwil Switzerland Tel: +41 61 482 20 41 E-mail: weissg@balcab.ch ____________________________________________________________ STHC-L - Science, Technology, and Health Care Archives Forum STHC-L@lists.ucla.edu http://lists.ucla.edu/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/sthc-l STHC-L@lists.ucla.edu STHC-L Archives -- Main Index STHC-L Archives -- 2006 Message Index |
