Dear Colleagues,
It was good to see so many of you at last month's Washington SAA meeting. We had
more than fifty attendees at the Science Technology and Health Care (STHC) Roundtable
meeting where we had a full and varied program. Highlights included a session on
documentary history projects and Joe Anderson's tribute to our late colleague
Joan Warnow.

And we batted around ideas for session proposals for SAA's 2007 meeting in Chicago.
If any of you are proposing sessions for the Chicago meeting and the topic of your
proposal pertains to science, technology, or health care issues/records/papers,
we invite you to submit them to STHC for consideration for Roundtable endorsement.
Program procedures for the 2007 meeting allow the Roundtable to endorse two proposals.
The drop-dead deadline for submitting session proposals to SAA is October 9.
To allow enough time to circulate proposals among the Roundtable's

Steering Committee for review, please submit your proposal to me or STHC Co-Chair Paul Theerman by
close of business Friday September 29.

The Call for Proposals is on the SAA website at
http://www.archivists.org/conference/chicago2007/proposals.asp

Suggestions and tips for preparing a successful proposal are at
http://www.archivists.org/conference/proposals101/index.asp

We encourage everyone who is considering submitting a session proposal to read these
tips closely and follow them.

As you put together your proposals, remember that the Program Committees prefer
sessions in which all of the proposed speakers have been contacted and have
agreed to speak prior to the submission deadline.

Please feel free to use this listserv to throw out ideas for possible sessions for feedback
or to get suggestions for speakers to complete a session. And, don't hesitate to contact
Steering Committee members directly for input and advice in shaping, editing, or refining
a proposal. Committee members' contact information is posted on the STHC website at
http://www.archivists.org/saagroups/sthc/members.html
