Position Title: Head Archivist, San Diego Aerospace Museum

Duties: Directs the operations of one of the most extensive aviation
historical archives in the nation. Ensures that the Museum's collection of
photographs, technical drawings and manuals, books, periodicals, microforms,
videos, manuscripts, and other related materials are properly cataloged,
preserved, protected, and made available for use. Assists Museum staff and
volunteers, scholars, students, and members of the general public in
accessing and interpreting contents of the collection. Manages a
departmental budget and supervises 2 professional staff members and 20 - 30
volunteers. Composes academic works to further the Museum's profile. Works
under limited supervision and is expected to exercise initiative and sound
judgment as well as upholding the highest ethical standards of a museum
professional.

Special notes: Selected candidate is subject to a 90-day probationary
period.

Qualifications: Minimum three years experience in archives collections
management; minimum education Bachelor's degree in history, museum studies
(museology), library science, or field related to the collection of the San
Diego Aerospace Museum; knowledge of aerospace-related history and
technology preferred.

Salary: $26,000 - $34,000 per annum (commensurate with experience), plus
benefits. Relocation expenses will not be paid.
