Forwarded to STHC-L at request of Deborah Silverman. --RJ ----- Original Message ----- Curator of Manuscripts (Visiting Faculty Librarian) Health Sciences Library System University of Pittsburgh The Health Sciences Library System at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for the position of Curator of the newly formed manuscripts collections. This is a temporary, two-year position in support of a project to process the papers of a significant physician and innovator in the delivery of health care. Duties include but are not limited to processing document collections, and developing appropriate finding aids; establishing policies and procedures for managing materials and recommending policies for access for the Manuscripts area; training and supervising students and paraprofessional support staff. Position reports to the Associate Director for Resource Management. Qualifications: Master's degree in History, Library Science or related field. Three to five years experience with large manuscript collections. Demonstrated knowledge of EAD, DACS and other relevant descriptive and metadata standards. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience in the history of medicine desirable. Preferred: ACA certification. Supervisory experience. The Health Sciences Library System (HSLS) provides collections and services to meet the information needs of the educational, clinical and research programs of the schools of Medicine, Dental Medicine, Pharmacy, Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, Nursing and the Graduate School of Public Health, as well as the hospitals of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. HSLS includes the following libraries: Falk Library of the Health Sciences, Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic Library the Libraries at UPMC Shadyside, and the Libraries at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
