History of Med marketing data

Once again I am working with a doc who wants to publish - this time a collection
of biographies of famous person who died from different causes, i.e., Eva Peron
and cervical cancer, Rudolph Valentino and pneumonia, etc.

The previous doc decided to self publish. It will be a gorgeous book you can read
about at
http://www.medicalhistoryandart.com .

But to get back to the current doc's question. He wants to know if there is any
survey data indicating what proportion of the general public (or any subset thereof)
indicates an interest in history or medical history in particular. He is trying to come
up with supporting data that there is an actual market for his book so he can convince
a publisher to take on his book.

I don't have a clue, but I thought I would pick the collective brain of the listserv
members for some useful tidbits of advice for my doc.

As always, thanks to a great group!
