Subject: West_Arch-- Vacancy Announcement - Project Archivist, UCSF
Project Archivist (75%)
The UCSF Library and Center for Knowledge Management seeks a part-time, 75% Project Archivist,
classified as an Analyst II, in the Archives and Special Collections Unit. This is a
grant funded, 1-year temporary position with possibility of extension contingent on
additional funding being identified.
Working under the general direction of the Manager, Archives and Special Collections,
the Project Archivist will be responsible for surveying, creating an index, and
coordinating preservation efforts for tobacco industry audio-visual material. Specific
responsibilities include producing a comprehensive index and guide to the audio-visual
materials, including item-level lists and standardized descriptions; integrating the
descriptions into the Legacy Tobacco Documents Library; developing a preservation plan;
and coordinating with vendors. The job will involve some travel to the Minnesota
Documents Depository in Minneapolis, to make an initial survey and assessment of the
material.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in history or a related field and two years
of experience, or an equivalent combination of education an experience; knowledge of
archival descriptive standards and practices; knowledge of preservation standards for
audio-visual materials; excellent communication skills; experience working with
relational databases; ability to work both in a team and independently.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with audio-visual materials; experience in
preservation work; masters degree in history, library science, or a related field;
experience working in an archival repository.
Compensation: Base salary is $3,450 - $5,692 per month full time rate, pro-rated to 75%.
Starting salary usually in the lower end to the middle of the range depending on experience
and qualifications. Excellent benefits package.
