Subject: [NEAdiscuss] Volunteers needed for "Gourmet Tour" during SAA

The SAA Host Committee is looking for 5 volunteers to each lead/host a
group of people to a restaurant as part of a "Gourmet Tour" during the SAA
conference.

The idea of the "gourmet tour" is to offer SAA conference attendees a
chance to go out to dinner with a new group of people and let the planning
be done by a local host. In order to make this a somewhat intimate
experience, each group will allow for a maximum of 10 people including the
host.

The Restaurants
Tapeo - Back Bay http://www.tapeo.com/
Taranta - North End
http://www.bostonphoenix.com/listings%5Cfood/by_restaurant/TARANTA.asp
No. 9 Park - Beacon Hill http://bostonchefs.com/clients/No9Park/rest_page/
Green St. Grill - Central Sq. http://www.greenstreetgrill.com/
Cafe St. Petersburg - Brookline
http://www.bostonphoenix.com/alt1/archive/food/reviews/06-06-96/CAFE_ST_PETERSBURG.html

Volunteers' responsibilities:

* Choose the day and time of the dinner (to be held any time during
the conference week Mon. - Fri.)
* Make reservations ahead of time at the restaurant
* Organize a meeting spot and time for the group
* Lead the group from the conference hotel to the restaurant and back
* Eat dinner and enjoy

The SAA Host Committee will provide you with:

* A sign-up sheet posted to the conference bulletin board during the
conference
o The sign-up sheet will include a description of the
restaurant and price range, the meeting time and meeting
location
* Information/marketing sent to the Archives and Archivist listserv
a week or two before the conference

This volunteer task should not require much work outside of providing
logistics for the restaurant and just going out the night of the dinner. If
you are interested in leading a group please contact us by June 30th and
let us know which restaurant/group you would like to be responsible for.

Thanks,
