Dear colleagues,

On behalf of The Wellcome Trust Library for the History and Understanding of
Medicine, I am  delighted to announce the launch of the MedHist history of
medicine gateway which is now  available at http://medhist.ac.uk/.  

MedHist is a Web-based gateway to evaluated, high quality Internet resources
in the history  of medicine and allied sciences. It provides access to an
ever-expanding searchable database of descriptions of history of medicine
Web sites and other Internet resources.  Use of MedHist is free of charge.

It is possible to search MedHist using an advanced search engine, and to
browse it by broad  categories, MeSH keywords or personal names.

MedHist describes and links to a number of different Internet resource
types.  Some of these  include online primary source documents, electronic
texts and journals, collections of  historical images, databases and
datasets and electronic discussion lists.

The MedHist editorial team welcome your comments and suggestions. You may
use the feedback  form on the Web site at
http://medhist.ac.uk/help/feedback.html or email them directly to
medhist@wellcome.ac.uk.

If you know of, or have created, a high-quality history of medicine site
that is not  currently listed on MedHist, please alert us to its presence by
using the "Submit" function  accessible from any page on the MedHist site.

MedHist has been developed by the Wellcome Trust Library for the History and
Understanding of Medicine
