STHC-L Administrator warning: virus apparently sent by list

An industrious virus on somebody's machine is now sending out a message
with a virus-infected attachment and making it _appear_ that it comes
from the STHC-L list. It doesn't. This message will have an active
attachment, with an ".exe" extension. Do not open the message, and
certainly do not open the attachment!
In order to prevent this problem from reoccuring, list members
who use email programs that routinely pass viruses (e.g.,
Microsoft Outlook) should eliminate from
their address books, and enter the address by hand when sending
postings to the list. That is the simplest way to ensure that any
virus does not get sent to the list and does not appear to originate
from it.
