SUMMER HISTORY POSITION FOR GRADUATE STUDENT

The Office of the Public Health Service Historian, affiliated with the
National Library of Medicine but located at the Parklawn Building in
Rockville, Maryland, is seeking to hire a graduate student with training in
history of medicine and/or science for the summer of 2002.  The position is
full-time and involves library research, processing of archival materials,
and assisting in other work of the Office.  Candidates must apply through
the National Institutes of Health (NIH) summer internship program, and
application must be made online on the following website:

The deadline for applications in March 1, 2002.

At the bottom of the welcome page, please click on the link for
Scientific/Research positions and then select "On-line Application."  Do not
answer items 7 and 8 as these are not required and are not relevant to the
position.  Please be sure, however, to select "National Library of Medicine,
Lister Hill Center" from the drop-down menu in item 9.  Please also notify
the Office of the PHS Historian that you are applying for the position.
Salary will be paid at the equivalent of the GS-7 level ($31,397 per annum),
prorated for the period worked.  GS-7 level positions ordinarily require at
