Dear STHC Listserv Members,
I want to encourage everyone to contact their representatives in the
House and Senate to express their concern over the implications of
Executive Order 13233, "Further Implementation of the Presidential
Records Act." This order greatly alters and changes the intent of the
original 1978 Presidential Records Act and seems in direct opposition to
archival theory and practice.
Below is a link to the Society of American Archivist's webpage that
provides a copy of the letter sent by the Society of American Archivists
as well as background information about the Executive Order.

Other groups, such as the Society of California Archivists, led by our
own Robin Chandler, have followed suit with letters of their own. Each
group has suggested that its constituents voice their concern
individually as well.
I strongly urge STHC members and other interested parties to write/call
their Congressional representatives to voice their opinion on this
action. Email addresses and phone numbers are available at this URL.
The electronic submission process is very painless!

Best wishes,
Suzie Long
