Many thanks to all attendees for an interesting, productive, and 
enjoyable Society of American Archivists (SAA) meeting in Washington 
last week!

Kudos and a debt of gratitude to several members who rotated off the 
Steering Committee after several years' valuable service:  Liz Andrews 
(MIT), John Bolcer (formerly with Hanford Health Information 
Archives, Gonzaga University), and Robin Chandler (Online Archive of 
California).  In order to maintain a good geographic distribution and  
balanced Sci/Tech/Health Care representation, we asked the following 
folks to join the Steering Committee (for 3-year terms):  Ewa Baskinska 
(MIT; Newsletter Co-Chair with Tanya Zanish-Belcher), Janice Goldblum 
(National Academy of Sciences), and Dan Lewis (Huntington Library).

I am especially grateful to my colleague and friend Suzie Long for 
showing me the command ropes and being a swell person with whom to 
work; she continues on the committee and is succeeded as Co-Chair by 
Lisa Mix (Johns Hopkins University).

Kalpana Shankar, a doctoral student at UCLA's Department of Information 
Studies, accepted our offer to be the first Student Representative on 
the steering committee.  She joins us as part of STHC's initiative to 
be more responsive and reach out to current and potential student 
members of SAA.

follow this one.
