RE: finding aid exercises

Amherst College Archives and Special Collections have done a nifty job of
uploading their fine finding aids. The site is
www.amherst.edu/library/archives/findingaids/ and if you want to copy any of
them to distribute (the one on Hitchcock is especially apt for your crowd)
drop a note to John Lancaster for permission.

The US Geological Survey has an ingenious CD ROM that includes both Mary
Rabbitt's short history of the survey and the NARA finding aid for their
record group. I can't tell you how handy it is to have them both searchable
in the same place! Copies are free if they are still available; ask Cliff
Nelson (cnelson@usgs.gov) for the order address (I'd supply it but it's at
home). If the NPS has not done something similar, they should.
