Project Archivist Two-year position
The Medical Heritage Center of the Prior Health Sciences Library, The Ohio
State University, has an opening for an archivist to process the manuscript
collection of William G. Myers MD. This collection (approximately 315 cubic
feet) contains personal papers, photographs, records from organizations,
printed documents, teaching materials, and materials related to nuclear science
and nuclear medicine. The collection when organized will be a primer resource
of the early development of the nuclear sciences.
The position requirements will include arranging and creating both print and
online finding aids in a logical retrievable system. Some
reviewing/identification of photographs and motion picture film may be
necessary. This is a two-year position provided by private funding
specifically designated to process the collection.
A Master’s degree in Archives/American Studies, History, or Library Science is
required. One year of experience in special collections or archival
administration would be useful. Excellent writing skills are needed. Preference
will be given to individuals with experience in the history of medicine or with
experience in archival work. The successful candidate will work in the newly
created space of Medical Heritage Center on the fifth floor of the library with
the curator and assistant curator.
Hiring range will begin at $26,603 minimum; salary is dependent upon experience
and qualifications. Fringe benefits include medical, dental and life
insurance. Public System (PERS) or an alternative retirement plan is available
and there are 12 vacation days per year. Interviewing for the position will
