Library and Center for Knowledge Management
University of California, San Francisco
The University of California, San Francisco seeks applications for a
temporary appointment as Project Archivist. UCSF is a health sciences
university. The schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy and
the Graduate Division award advanced professional and research degrees in
the basic, natural and behavioral sciences related to health.
The Project Archivist will create an archive to document the multiple
facets of efforts to decrease the use of tobacco in the State of
California. Working with the Manager of Special Collections and the
Advisory Board, the Project Archivist will coordinate efforts to identify
records of enduring value; arrange for acquisition and transportation of
materials; process records and create inventories; and catalog records and
provide service to the collection.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful applicant will have an ALA-accredited
Master's degree in archival administration, library science, or history,
with course work in archival administration and records management;
experience in archival administration with particular skills in appraisal,
description, reference and preservation practices; and a working knowledge
of professional ethics and practices relating to issues of confidentiality.
The individual should have proficiency with the use of IBM PC and Macintosh
computers. Familiarity with EAD standard for finding aids and knowledge of
managing audio/visual formats.
This is a grant-funded, full-time appointment for a minimum of three years.
Appointment will be to the Librarian series at the Assistant or Associate
Librarian rank (salary from $32,940 to $57,984, depending on qualifications).
