Anticipated frequency of meetings: Monthly

Agenda/purpose:

The goal of the Affinity Group is to bring together UCLA basic and translational scientists with an interest in the general areas of stress, pain and emotion. There will be a strong emphasis on neurobiological, interdisciplinary and translational aspects of these areas. Examples of topics are visceral and somatic pain; neurobiology of emotions and the relationship with central stress mechanisms; neurobiology of stress and its relationship to pain perception.

Participants in this Affinity Group will include members of the Center for Neurobiology of Stress, and members of the UCLA Neuroscience community.

The longterm goal of the Affinity Group is to foster interdisciplinary interactions and research proposals.

Planned activity:

Symposia of the UCLA Center for Neurobiology of Stress will be held annually in the beginning of each year:
        · Basic and Translational Science Symposium & Clinical Symposium.
