Joining The BRI

MEMBERSHIP GUIDELINES

The UCLA Brain Research Institute (BRI) is a campus-wide, uniquely collaborative community of faculty, clinicians and research scientists advancing our understanding of the brain in health and disease.

There are many benefits of membership.  They include:

In return, BRI members will be expected to:

  1. Engage in one or more areas that support the mission of the BRI, including neuroscience-related research, education and outreach.
  2. Hold an appointment in the UCLA Academic Senate series (not Researcher series) or a joint appointment at UCLA if primary location is at another institution.  Faculty members not in the Academic series may also become BRI members at the Director's discretion, if they are making significant contributions to the mission of the BRI.
  3. Submit an up-to-date copy of your Curriculum Vitae annually, including a link to your entire publication record (this may be an NCBI "My Bibliography" link (preferred), Google Scholar, ResearcherID, ResearchGate profile, etc.).  We require this data annually to update the BRI's member interactome and annual report.
  4. Optional presentation of a short lecture or data blitz introducing and summarizing your major areas of research as part of the Joint Seminars of Neuroscience series.  This is a great way to introduce yourself to the BRI community and an effective way to establish exciting new research collaborations with other members.  Upon request, these presentations can also be filmed and posted on our website and YouTube channel.
  5. Acknowledge the BRI in papers and presentations if a member receives special funding from the BRI.

There is no annual renewal requirement for continued membership.  The Director has the discretion to end membership as appropriate.

To join, please complete the BRI Membership Application and send it along with an up-to-date copy of your Curriculum Vitae and a recent headshot to Ana Elias (aelias@mednet.ucla.edu).
